About Vision Quest Guided Hunts LLC.

Vision Quest Guided Hutns LLC. is owned by Chris Furia. Chris is the third generation if the Furia family born and raised in Trinidad, Colorado. His best memories growing up were hunting with his dad, Nick. As Chris got older, he began exploring how his love for hunting and fishing could become a way of life for him. As a young man, Chris worked for several local outfitters as an apprentice and eventually as a hunting guide. Chris graduated from University of Southern Colorado with a degree in degree in outdoor recreation. His love for tying flies, the outdoors, and fishing led to the creation of Hi-Country Flies Inc. of which he is the CEO and president.

During the fall months of 1985 through 1989, Chris was lured by the call of the North. His love of hunting and fishing took him to Alaska where he worked as a hunting and fishing guide in the Wrangell Mountains and on the Alaska Peninsula. Here, he guided clients on hunts for Alaskan Moose, Dall Sheep, Grizzly Bears and Barren-Ground Caribou. The valuable lessons and experiences he gained in Alaska were brought home to Colorado where Chris continued to work as a hunting guide in Colorado, the Havasupai Reservation and the White Mountain Apachi Reservation. Eventually, Chris would start Vision Quest Guided Hunts LLC. wiht his own leases around the Trinidad area. One of the early leases, which is still hunted by us today, have been part of our hunting family for over twenty years.

A Personal Experience Rooted in Relationships

Vision Quest Guided Hunts is built on relationships first—with our clients, our ranchers, our guides, and our land. As a lifelong Trinidad resident, Chris has unmatched knowledge of the local game populations and seasonal patterns. We strive to make a welcoming enviornment that creates lifelong memories and makes each hunt feel special. We believe hunting should feel personal—not commercialized, not rushed, and truly one-of-a-kind. This is rooted in the love for time we have spent together with our family and friends while pursuing game.

Here, hunters arrive as clients but leave as friends, often returning year after year. Many stop and visit every time they pass through the area. Our ranchers know our guides. Our guides know our hunters. And everyone becomes part of the Vision Quest family and spends time at base camp throughout the hunting seasons.

A Family Tradition

Chris shares his love for the outdoors with his twin daughters, Kami and Chrisily, who grew up just as he did—respecting the land, the wildlife, and God’s creation. They started out chasing turkeys and prairie dogs and now join in guiding and enjoying big-game hunts once clients have filled their tags.

• Kami is an Emergency Medical Responder. She attended Montana State Universty before she realized her love for helping people. She now plans on attending paramedic school in the coming years. She helps make our hunting camp feel welcoming and helps behind the scenes to make sure everyone has everythung they need. She loves helping clients feel at home and introducing them to the hidden gems around Trinidad.
  
• Chrisily is studying Natural Resource Ecology & Management at Oklahoma State University with a focus on Wildlife Ecology & Management. She recently added a minor in Rangeland Ecology as well. Even with a full academic schedule, she never misses a season and returns home each year to guide.
  
• Today, Chris runs both Vision Quest Guided Hunts and Hi-Country Flies year-round. Between packing orders and guiding hunts, he still makes time to cast a line and enjoy the places that shaped him and his family.
